Tap oval area to load Event Counter. Tap screen (finger or stylus) to start 60 second timer and count of respirations. Count with stylus or finger tap to screen, or use centre/enter button on Pocket PC. A sound signals
60 seconds and counter stops.
Following the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness Protocol (developed by the WHO), a child:
- less than 8 weeks of age with 60 respirations per minute or more should be classified as having a Possible Serious Infection, and treated.
- 2 to 11 months of age with 50 respirations per minute or more should be classified as having Pneumonia (or severe Pneumonia, depending on other symptoms), and should be treated.
- 12 to 59 months of age with 40 respirations per minute or more should be classified as having
Pneumonia (or severe Pneumonia, depending on other symptoms), and should be treated.
